Maude I Table Lamp
Inspired by deep sea isopods, Maude I blends the organic with rigid, natural materials. This lamp produces gentle light diffusion through its layered shade, creating an idyllic ambiance in the most comfortable settings. Conceptualized over three weeks; fabricated with Danish oil treated cherry, brass, and Yupo paper.

During my first Junior year furniture studio, I was tasked to design and fabricate a lighting piece within three weeks. The inspiration for Maude I came from my innate fascination with invertebrates and natural forms. Creating organic structures can be extremely difficult, but my experimentation with Yupo paper allowed for the freedom of an animated form without complicating the construction of the lamp. The brass upper was milled and bent by hand, along with the cherry base.
